Christmas Present

This year has been particularly difficult communicationally(is that a word) speaking.
You would think, in a world where communication is so easy that it wouldn't be so hard for me to IM, text, email, phone, SOMETHING.   One of my gifts to my family this year is going to be "The picture of the week" and it's going to be right here on this blog.  I can upload a picture anytime of day and not have to worry about interrupting, time zones, busy schedules etc.

So here goes!!!  To my wonderful, far away family, here is your first PICTURE(S) OF THE WEEK!
Landon

This picture embodies our holiday season.  A lot has been going on in our lives but we take time to relax and enjoy one another.  Sleeping late and staying in jammies half the day is OK once in a while.
 Maren
We take time to be creative!  Maren created this dress on the dress form she got for christmas...in her jammies!

Snow Day!!  We played in the snow together until we were frozen and longing for hot chocolate.

Check back next week for another Picture(s) of the Week.

Blessings,
Poppy

No More Bath Time

"It goes by so fast."

"They'll be grown before you know it."

Then there are those wide eyed ladies I would notice staring at my children at the park or the grocery store saying, to themselves, "Where did the time go?" and I could see the memories reeling in their minds.

I heard the comments but didn't pay them much attention...until now.

I don't want to dwell and become melancholy longing for days past but there is something about remembering that helps me appreciate the present so much more.

My kids are pretty close together in age. When I had my "baby" I had 3 children under 4 and remember the activity level in the house being pretty intense on most days. Sometimes stressful, sometimes exciting, never boring. Moments of peace and quiet were sporadic and precious. Evenings could be hectic with dinner, bath time and tuck ins but they were also fun family times playing with Daddy and reading books.

Just yesterday, for no apparent reason, totally out of the blue while I was making dinner, I was overcome with grief. I just broke down and started crying while I was grating the cheese for the Chicken Parmesan. My youngest son, who's 12, was sitting at the counter doing his math when he heard my murmured crying. "Mom, turn around. Are you crying?" Caught! I tried to put a cork in it but there was no stopping it. It was a mud slide, mascara everywhere and not an onion in site to blame it on!

He was relieved and amused when I was finally able to squeak out weakly. "I'm OK Honey. I'm just crying because.....I don't have to give any of my children a bath anymore." We both laughed because it sounded so silly! Then he told me he was glad that I didn't give him a bath anymore which made me laugh even harder.

Oh precious gift of days! Lord Jesus, help me to embrace each new day for all that you have created it to be. Remind me that these days will be the precious memories of days to come. Amen.

Abundantly Blessed,

Poppy

Pressing On!

Hi! I'm back!! I know it's been 7 months since my last post. I know that's a really long time and it's probably totally against some bloggisphere rule that I don't know about but I am going to press on in the blog world. I will go ahead and try to pick up right here and not try to make up for lost time. I want to be a blogger so badly!!

It's not that nothing interesting has happened in the last 7 month. Many, many interesting things have happened. But sometimes it's best to get on with life right where it's at. It's OK to let yourself catch up by skipping the past and going straight to the present. I'm giving myself that gift today.(pun intended)

Today is Saturday. I'm hangin out in my jammies, watching "You've Got Mail". I've never seen it before and I am loving it. I'm a sucker for a happy ending!

I made banana muffins for breakfast. Not just ANY old banana muffins. I made whole wheat, flaxseed, banana muffins w/honey butter and my children ate them! I love my children, they don't mind flaxseed. Flaxseed is good for you.
Blessings,
Poppy
